Feeling Tired?

If you are feeling sluggish, have aching muscles and joints, or headaches, these may all be signs of persistent inflammation. You may be suffering from hidden thyroid problems or adrenal fatigue, especially if you are also having difficulty losing weight, even if your lab tests for thyroid function are normal. Then you rely on stimulants like caffeine and carbohydrate snacks to get through the day. But you get tired after eating.

Diagnosis

The solution to these issues often relies on an analysis of the interaction between your hormonal, immune, and nervous systems. Addressing the weak links in these systems can rebalance the complex interactions between them. Sometimes weak adrenal function will allow inflammation to continue, resulting in congestion, headaches, or muscle pain. In other people stress responses can be taxing the thyroid gland and neurotransmitter function resulting in poor sleep and mood changes. Tests for adrenal function, thyroid imbalance, and neurotransmitter levels can get to the bottom of the problem. This will lead to targeted therapy with herbs and nutritional supplements to correct these imbalances.  Often food sensitivities are also contributing to stress on the body. Tests for antibodies to certain foods may be indicated as well

Treatment

Often patients with these problems go for years under conventional medical care without finding solutions. They may get a diagnosis of autoimmune disease in one form or another (Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, fibrositis, arthritis, or lupus) none of which have any effective treatment under conventional care. It requires a holistic medical approach to solve these problems. Developing an integrative treatment plan that includes proper diet, nutritional supplement support, and herbal formulas that address immune and hormonal imbalances will provide the keys to solving these complex problems.
