Stay Healthy

by Dr. Randy

With winter approaching it is time to start an immune system support program for you and your kids. For most people the most important ingredient is Vitamin D (1,000 IU for babies, 2,000 IU for kids, 5,000 IU for adults). Other supplements in the program for immune support can include whey protein concentrate or colostrum, Vitamin C, astragalus, elderberry, and medicinal mushrooms (ganoderma, reishi, shiitake, maitake, cordyceps).

This program can be taken in tandem with other antioxidant and detoxification supplements. My favorites of those are CoQ10, resveratrol, ALA, mixed tocopherol vitamin E, reduced glutathione. And don’t forget fish oil or krill oil for their antiinflammatory and brain function effects.

Have a great winter. and keep up the exercise program.

Hello again Dr..  First, let me thank you for responding to my comments in the past.  I’m sure you are busy so your reply’s are much appreciated.  I would like to know your thoughts on olive leaf supplements.  I started taking it last winter along with my vitamin D and never came down with anything other than a mild sore throat that only lasted a day and that was it.  In my opinion that’s not to bad considering I have a three year old.  I had read elsewhere that olive leaf was beneficial to your immune system as well as its anti-fungal properties its most known for.  My wife (cardiomyopathy) and I currently take one gram of Swansons EFA fish oil, 4000iu Vitamin D3 and 750mg of Olive Leaf daily.  Your take…good, not good, too much or not enough.  I realize that I may be asking to much considering we’re not patients of yours but logistics make that impossible.  Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.
